Brake Fluid Flush

WHAT IS IT

Brake fluid is found in the brake cylinder reservoir and converts force into pressure allowing your vehicle to stop. Flushing the brake fluid on a regular basis is a good way to maintain your vehicle’s optimum braking performance.

WHY DO IT

Brake fluid is hydroscopic, meaning it attracts and retains moisture. Over time, increased moisture in your brake fluid can cause rust to form inside the components of your vehicle’s braking system and result in internal corrosion and damage to brake components including the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). If this occurs, it will dramatically affect your vehicle’s ability to brake abruptly, and it can even lead to complete brake failure. We recommend that you have your brake fluid inspected every 1-2 years and flushed every 60,000 km.

HOW IT’S SERVICED

During a brake fluid inspection, your Master Mechanic technician will look at your vehicle’s cylinder reservoir to determine which type of brake fluid is required, as well as check the quality of the brake fluid in the reservoir. Next, we will determine whether your brake fluid needs to be flushed. using one of three techniques. The first technique uses an optical refractometer to test your brake fluid to determine the moisture level and boiling point. The second technique uses chemical test strips to indicate the condition of your brake fluid. Finally, the third technique uses an electronic brake fluid tester to measure the boiling temperature. If the quality of your brake fluid is poor, your technician will flush out your vehicle’s old brake fluid and replace it with new fluid.
