Catalytic Converter Replacement
WHAT IS IT
A catalytic converter uses a chamber called a catalyst to convert the harmful compounds from your car’s engine emissions, like carbon monoxide, into safe, or less toxic, gases, like carbon dioxide, before they get released into the air.
WHY DO IT
While a malfunctioning catalytic converter will not harm your engine, it’s not a good idea to drive around without one. Along with hearing a loud roaring noise as you accelerate, and a less smooth ride, your car will be emitting potentially harmful pollutants into the environment and will not pass a safety emissions test.
HOW IT’S SERVICED
To replace your catalytic converter, your Master Mechanic technician will raise your vehicle onto jack stands and remove the faulty converter. Once the new one is installed, it is checked for leaks and then taken for a road test to ensure it is functioning properly.
